REFURBISH YOUR EQUIPMENT. SAVE YOUR NOSTALGIA (AND THE EARTH).

EARTH DAY SPECIAL: HOW OUR REPAIR SERVICES WORK

Today is Earth Day. To celebrate, we wanted to do a deep dive into our repair process.

Earth Day is all about being mindful of sustainable solutions and reducing waste. We do our best to commit to that year-round by offering vintage electronic repair.

But restoring vintage electronics isn’t just about getting them back up and running. It’s about preserving the experience they provide. It’s about holding onto the things that made them meaningful in the first place, while giving them a second life for years to come.

At SpenCertified, that’s exactly what we aim to do: help you refurbish your equipment - and save your nostalgia.

WHY REFURBISH

Earth Day 2026 Vintage Electronics

Every year, Earth Day reminds us how important it is to reduce waste and make better use of the resources we already have. Refurbishing vintage electronics is a practical, meaningful way to do exactly that.

Instead of sending equipment to landfills, refurbishment extends the life of units that were built to last. Many vintage units were manufactured with higher-quality components and craftsmanship than what’s common today, making them ideal candidates for repair rather than replacement.

Refurbishing also reduces the environmental impacts, like energy consumption, associated with manufacturing new products. Choosing to repair and replace isn’t just about preserving equipment; it’s about making a more sustainable choice that aligns with the spirit of Earth Day year-round.

So refurbish your equipment. Save your nostalgia - and the earth.

WHY SPENCERTIFIED

Vintage Electronics Repair Services Bench

Vintage electronics repair is a highly specialized field, and it’s one that very few companies are equipped to handle at a high level. That’s where SpenCertified stands apart.

We focus on diagnosing, repairing, and restoring equipment that many others won’t even attempt. From sourcing hard-to-find parts to working through complex, aging circuitry, our team has the experience and processes needed to bring vintage equipment back to reliable working condition.

Unlike general electronics repair shops, we don’t treat these units as run-of-the-mill equipment. We recognize the value (functional, historical, and emotional) of each unit. Simply put, we do what almost no one else does. And we do it with consistency and care.

HOW IT WORKS

Completing Repair Form

STEP 1: REPAIR FORM

The first step is to complete our Repair Form. This will ask for some basic contact information (name, phone number, and email), along with information about your item (brand, model, and serial number).

At the bottom of the form, you can enter your device’s issues. You don’t have to diagnose your own device; just give us a rundown of what’s wrong with it. For example, if it doesn’t power on, if your music skips, or if a tray is stuck.

Once the information is filled out, hit “Submit.”

STEP 2: INSPECTION FEE

After the repair form is submitted, add your repair to the cart. You have two options: Mail-In and Local Drop Off.

The fee for mail-in inspections is $150; that does not include shipping. The fee for local drop-offs to our shop in Mesa, AZ is $125. This fee does go towards the repair.

After you check out, you will receive a confirmation email with your order number.

STEP 3: GET YOUR ITEM TO US

If you’re local, simply drop your item off at our warehouse any time during our business hours:

Tuesday to Friday: 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Saturday: 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM

[Closed on Sunday and Monday.]

If you’re not local, you will want to securely pack your item. This means at least three to four inches of bubble wrap or other packing material between your item and the cardboard of the box.

Once it’s packed, you will ship your item to:

SpenCertified Repairs

456 E Juanita Ave, Suite 8

Mesa, AZ 85204

STEP 4: INSPECTION AND EVALUATION

Once received, your item will be added to our inspection queue. We are typically four to five weeks out on inspections.

During inspection, our technician thoroughly tests the unit to find out the cause of the issue and designs a repair plan.

STEP 5: REPAIR AND NEXT STEPS

If it’s a simple fix that can be done then and there, the repair is completed during the inspection and is covered by the inspection fee.

If it’s a larger issue that requires parts and labor that go above and beyond the fee, we contact you via text or email with our repair plan and an estimate on the cost, and you can decide whether to move forward.

Once the process is complete (either because the item is fixed or because you choose not to move forward with it), we will let you know it's ready for pickup (for local repairs) or we will send you an invoice for the return shipping costs, then get it packed up and returned (for mail-in repairs).

SUMMARY

There’s something special about vintage electronics that goes beyond simple functionality. Whether it’s the familiar click of a switch, the glow of a display, or the sound quality you just can’t replicate, these pieces carry a sense of nostalgia that modern equipment often lacks.

For many people, this equipment isn’t just hardware. It’s a connection to past experiences, memories, and moments that still matter today. The problem is, as time goes on, even the best-built devices begin to wear down or stop working altogether.

That’s where refurbishment comes in. By reducing waste and keeping cherished equipment away from landfills, we aim to make a difference in two worlds: yours and the one we share.
