SUMMARY
This book reports the results of a five-year research study supported by the National Institute of Mental Health, in which a detailed new methodology was developed for assessing psychopathology through an ego function approach derived from clinical research methodology.
In the process, it was necessary to develop tool to serve as a basis for assessing ego functions and to construct a reliable rating scale. From that purpose an extensive review of the relevant literature on ego functions was made. Material for assessment is presented together with an interview guide, manual, and rating form.
