Dahlquist’s Phased Array design was developed to deal with two basic areas of loudspeaker inaccuracy: time-delay distortion and diffraction effects. In general, the direct sounds from the different drivers of a multiway system arrive at the listener’s position at slightly different times because of differences in the inertia of their moving systems and unequal distances from their voice coils to their front mounting planes and from the mounting planes to the listener. The combined result of these effects can be degraded spatial definition.

This pair of Dahlquist DQ-20 speakers is in great condition, both functionally and cosmetically. All drivers are original and fully operational, with clear, balanced output across the frequency range. The woofers deliver tight, accurate bass, while the midrange and tweeters provide detailed and natural sound with excellent imaging—true to the DQ-20’s audiophile reputation. The crossover networks are functioning properly, and the time-aligned driver array remains intact and well-preserved.
Cosmetically, the cabinets are clean with some wear on the back of the units. The fabric grills are in excellent shape with no holes or snags, and all trim pieces are present.
