Sony CDP-C221 5-Disc CD Changer — Requires HST-221 Main Unit, 1992
A clean, working CDP-C221 with a freshly cleaned laser — the exact part an HST-221 owner needs to bring the CD side of their system back to life. Note up front: this deck draws power from the HST-221 main unit and will not operate on its own.
Sony built the CDP-C221 in 1992 as the CD half of the SEN-221CD component system, pairing it with the HST-221 amplifier/tuner/tape unit. Carousel changers from this period are getting hard to find in working order, and the CD deck is usually the first piece a system loses. If you have an HST-221 sitting incomplete, this is the missing half.
Important Compatibility Note
This unit has no standard detachable AC power cord. It is powered through the HST-221 main unit and cannot be run standalone or connected to a third-party receiver as a self-powered CD player. Please confirm you have the matching HST-221 before purchasing.
What This Unit Does
- Holds five discs in a rotating carousel, so you can change the four discs you are not currently listening to without interrupting playback
- High Density Linear Converter D/A stage, Sony's better-grade conversion for this tier of gear
- Direct Digital Sync locks the deck to the system's digital timing for cleaner transfer to the main unit
- Standard RCA line outputs alongside the system control connector

Testing And Service
The laser assembly was cleaned as part of our service. All playback functions were confirmed working during testing: the carousel loads and rotates, discs read and play, and audio passes through the line outputs.
