The belt, transport mechanism, battery compartment, tuning controls, and headphone connection were inspected. Controls and switches were cleaned with WD-40 Specialist Electrical Contact Cleaner, which is safe for electronics. Playback speed and both tape directions were tested with multiple cassettes.
