Yamaha CDC-565 5-Disc Carousel CD Changer — Refurbished
The CDC-565 comes from Yamaha's Natural Sound era, when the company was building changers that behaved like proper components rather than convenience boxes. Five discs on a rotating carousel, a Yamaha 1-bit DAC, and a control set deep enough to program a full evening without touching the unit again. If you have a CD collection that deserves better than a shuffle playlist, this is the kind of player that gets it back into rotation.
What This Unit Does
- PlayXChange lets you remove and reload four discs while the fifth continues playing. You reload the changer without interrupting playback.
- Program up to 40 steps, and each step can be a single track or an entire disc. Edit the program as you build it and check total running time before you commit.
- Index search and track search for moving inside long classical or live recordings.
- Dimmable display, so it can sit in a dark listening room without glaring at you.
- Yamaha's 1-bit DAC, known for a warm, unfatiguing presentation rather than a clinical one.

Very good, rated 8 out of 10. Light cosmetic wear consistent with a unit of this age. No functional cosmetic defects.
Testing and Service
Serviced in-house before listing. The drive belt was replaced and the laser assembly was cleaned. All functions were then tested and confirmed working: tray operation, all five carousel positions loading and playing, PlayXChange disc swapping during playback, track and index search, programming, display, remote control operation, and analog output on both channels.
Belts and laser contamination are the two things that take these changers down. Both have been addressed.
